How to get a home with Oxbode

Oxbode Housing Association does not hold its own waiting list for accommodation. Instead it has entered into an agreement with Gloucester City Council to take nominations from a common waiting list held by the local authority. This means that if you are seeking housing with Oxbode, you should apply to Gloucester City Council.

Each application will be assessed to determine the level of housing need being experienced. Homes are then allocated to those in greatest housing need.

For more information you can contact us, contact Gloucester City Council on 01452 522232 or use the link to the council website from our useful links page.

Shared Ownership

Shared Ownership enables you to purchase a share of the value of a property and pay rent for the remainder. You may, when you can afford to, purchase the whole of the value of your home, and then become a full owner-occupier. If you later decide to sell your share of the property, any increase or decrease in the property value will be passed on to you in proportion to the share you hold.

This normally involves you; the shared owner having a mortgage for 50% of the property and the remaining 50%, which Oxbode owns, is rented by you.

Shared Ownership is particularly appropriate for those people who cannot afford to buy a property outright and that in future years their income will rise sufficiently for them to increase their share and eventually become outright owners.

All shared ownership purchases and other purchasing initiatives are handled by one agency, called new futures. Please contact your housing officer for further details or log onto their website at http://www.homebuy-southwest.co.uk/ for further information about how to apply.
